RTE's programme, Buyer Beware, featured a charity calendar where people were sold advertising on the understanding that 20,000 copies would be distributed in their areas.

None of the advertisers got a single call and they reckon that no calendars were distributed.

The charity did get around €7,000 in donations.

So, if you are approached this year, check out the company first.

The guy behind it was called Andrew "Lownsboro".

Perhaps I picked it up wrong, but I understood The Children of Lapland Appeal recieved a sum of €7,000, which was recieved in two payments, €4,000 the 1st, €3,000 the 2nd, ie. 15% of the profits, then they were getting complaints & got suspicious.

That would mean Alantic Media must have taken €89,250 approx?

Perhaps, again, I picked this up wrong

Hi Pope

You are indeed infallible.

I suppose "donations" was the wrong word. Maybe "commission" would be a better word.
