Additional cardholder

We have an Ulster Bank credit card in one of our names, with the spouse having an additional card on the same account.
Due to previous credit problems, the additional card holder wouldn't get a credit card on their own.
From January,UB are withdrawing this option because of 2fa.
So,do other card companies issue additional cards on the one account, and how are they going to handle the (EU mandated) extra security?

It's not because of previous credit problems that the extra card is not being given now. Every couple with a current a/c in UB has got this notification and yes, it's bloody awkward. I don't know what the situation is with other banks yet with regard to both cards being given. Of course either one of you could use the other spouses Credit card, but it's when they send you the code that the trouble starts. The code will be sent to the other spouses phone, and unless you can get the message sent to you quickly the time will elapse before you can use it. Grr
