Hi all,

I'm hoping to take my new girlfriend away for her birthday and would love some suggestions. My girlfriend is really big into the outdoors (walking, hiking especially) and would love some suggestions on where would be best to go for an activity weekend.

We are hoping to go on the 19-21 of March and would like some activity ideas during the day and a nice hotel for the nights. We are based in Cork but would be interested in any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

(Sorry if I put the previous post in the wrong forum).

Great idea! The only negative is the time of year. We climbed Mount Brandon in Kerry last year. We stayed in Cloghan the night before the climb and then moved around Kerry in the days after. You could hire bikes and cycle some of the ring of Kerry. I have no idea what the weather would be like for climbing a mountain though.

You could go to Clare either - Liscannor/Lahinch. Get boat to Aran Islands, again hire bikes and cycle around. You can do surfing in Lahinch then the other day.

Thanks for the reply. The climb doesn't have to be intense or a difficult even a walking route with some nice scenary would be perfect.. This is our first weekend away together and just would love something outdoors for the day time (no matter the weather) and a nice hotel for the evenings to relax and unwind.

There is a walk around Mount Brandon without climbing it called the Dingle Way and it's very pretty. Dinlge is lovely to eat out in at night time too.

You could go to Wexford. Curracloe beach is beautiful to walk along and Wexford has some nice restaurants and is a pretty town.

We stayed here at the weekend, can't recommend it highly enough.

It is just across the river from Belleek Woods which has 6 miles of walking trails along the river, Enniscrone beach is about 5 miles away where they have a surf school. If you fancy salmon fishing, it's one of the best spots in the country apparently.

After all that the hotel itself is pure relaxation with a great spa and really good food.

It can get a bit pricey if you go for everything though (luckily we had gift vouchers)

Thanks again for all your suggestions. I've booked into the Delphi Mountain resort. Has anyone purchased the half/full day activities??

What does it involve? Can you pick and choose what you'd like to do?

Again again suggestions would be great.
