I recently had acrylic nails applied, and within a week, they were lifting and the regrowth was very very noticeable.

They were on special offer of 40e and when she had finished applying them I made a further appointment to have them refilled about two and half weeks later. This is a well known highly regarded high street combined beauticians and hairdressers.

I phoned to say that they looked awful due to the lifting and was told I should have used solar oil,as if you don't use it,the nails can lift.
I did use it,a lot .

I then asked how much it would cost to have them removed and was told it would be 30e.
My point is that the beautician was not prepared to either fix them, redo them or remove them for free based on the fact that they were in a deplorable state.
I have had them applied many times in the past and this has never happened.
I do a fair bit of business with them, and they are a team of two,who co own the place.( The beautician part of it.)

The nails were lifting so much that I was able to flick them off! so they are gone now,ten days after having them put on.

Is there anything I can do now,or do I just put it down to experience and not do anymore business with them in the future?

Never go back there again - not much else you can do other than a huuuuge complaint into management detailing your complaint. If they ignore that, stop going.

P.S. its bad business practice not to offer to rectify the problem - a small company like that depends on regular business. Explain you want the nails re-done at no expense, and if they dont agree then tell them you are taking your business elsewhere.

Quote the consumer act at them, its the same as anything else, they should be fit for purpose and last a reasonable amount of time.
Go back and insist they rectify the matter.

Great idea,thanks for that.

To be honest,so many of them lifted that I ended up taking them off myself.
I sent a message to tell them to cancel my further appointments.

They did so,and didn't ask me why, although they know the reason, and still didn't offer to do anything about it.

I just wont go back there again, and its their loss.I didn't do a huge amount of business with them, however every little helps ,or so I thought.

The girl is insisting that this is normal!!
So I'm getting nowhere.Word of mouth will hopefully get the result though.
Thanks for all the replies
