Hi, looking at starting a new business turning about 60k pa initially, it will be a limited company. Am I required by law to have an accountant / auditor to submit accounts or can an unqualified but experienced book-keeper do this? I'm just trying to keep the overhead costs as low as possible.
Thanks in advance.

If you qualify, you can avail of an audit exemption, in that case you could use a book-keeper to submit your accounts to the CRO.

If they are members of a professional accounting body or students of the same, that would be work considered to be public practice, which, if they do not have a practicing cert could get them disciplined by their body.

I'm not even going to comment on what happens if they make a mistake with disclosures or formats.

What do you think is a reasonable fee for this work?

If you are keen to cut costs to the bone you should reconsider forming a company in the first instance and perhaps operate as a sole trader?
