Results of Leaving Certificate will shortly be available and just as important are the Points-for-University. This is a trying and emotional time for students and parents. More especially for the parents of those students who wish to live away from home, this is a more daunting situation.
Likely, rented accommodation is necessary near the university. My experience of seeking accommodation for ours was generally not a happy one. I found many landlords to be obsessed with greed and uncaring. There were good ones too, but few and far between. I could write a novel a on the experiences, but unfortunately it would bring back too many bad memories. I’m sure some landlords could write a novella too.
My advice to any parent is to tread carefully, read any contract until you understand every sentence and know what your obligations are. You may not know it but your life is going to change in many ways. My Advice:- Try and get a handle on it.
