Accidentally used IBAN for domestic transfer

Hi,

File under silly questions:
I've just made an order from a local retailer's e-shop and elected to send the money via a bank transfer. Both myself and the retailer are in Belgium. Unfortunately, I just realized that I made the mistake of sending my payment to the retailer's IBAN, rather than domestic account number.

(As an aside, the money was immediately "transferred" from my account.)

Will this pose a problem, or can IBANs be safely used when sending a domestic bank transfer?

Thanks!

Don't worry, there's no problem, with the introduction of SEPA, IBAN's are now being used for all payments, intl & domestic

Yeah, you made the right decision to use the IBAN and BIC, domestic account numbers and sort codes are on their way out.

Thanks for your replies. It seems obvious in retrospect, but I'm relieved either way.

Regarding the BIC, the bank machine seemed to enter it for me, after I typed out the IBAN. So that's handy, I suppose.

Hm, I guess I may as well ask another question (fine, I'm new to bank transfers): as I sent the funds on Friday, should they transfer over the weekend?

Thanks again!
