I'm separating at the moment, house sale will be finalised within weeks and we don't have a mortgage. It's been a lengthy process as my ex created complications throughout and we're still awaiting some of his financial info.
We're not back in court for some months yet but my question is, if the cash is to be available in solicitors account by the end of this month is there any means of accessing any of this before we get to court and allocate share of proceeds?
We've had to live with family as we couldn't live in the family home for safety reasons (ex is prone to violence & abuse) but at this point we need to get into rented accommodation as we need stability - it's been 2.5 years since we had a "home" of our own. I'm self-employed so cash situation has been erratic because of what we've been put through, I am reluctant to take on a rental property until I know I have several months rent secure but I need the move in order to get a school sorted, get working properly again, etc.
Any advice would be welcome.
