Doing accounts technician course, and we have to register with ACCA i think it is about £30.00 sterling.
Why would one have to do this, and what would the benefits be.
I heard before if you are a member of ACCA you would get cheaper car insurance etc., is this true?

Melanie,

It's normal to register with the accountancy body who's exams you are sitting. You cannot sit them otherwise.

Some insurance companies may offer a discount if the ACCA have an agreement with them, but I haven't heard of any to be honest.

Accountants are considered low risk by insurance companies, hence can avail of group schemes for motor insurance.

But this only applies if you have passed all the exams and are a full member.

Coyle Hamilton supposed to do cheaper insurance.....not in my experience!

You'll have to register with ACCA so that you can sit the exams and gain your qualification.

ACCA have a scheme with Coyle Hamilton wereby ACCA students/members get a discount. Coyle Hamilton have given me one of the dearest quote for my car insurance for the last few years, so I'd love to see what my quote is without my discount.....
