ABS Light staying on and sluggish

Morning all

On the way to work this morning my ABS light came on (not while I was braking) and stayed on. I stopped at the shop for a few minutes and when I restarted car it was still on. The car is an 06 Focus. Any ideas what this could be about?

The other problem I'm having is the power of the car. My dad has the exact same car (1.6TDCi) and yet his seems more powerful. Mine seems sluggish in comparison. Again any comments would eb appreciated on this one.

No ideas other than bring it straight back to Ford and gt them to sort it out.
 
Have it booked in tomorrow at a dealers. The only problem is it ios not the dealer I bought it from as they are in Galway and I'm in COrk!!!!
 
Shouldn't make any difference Ned ie. A manufacturers warranty is just that.

Where warranty work is carried out is immaterial.

Having said that dealers in Cork (assuming you live there) might not be too happy with a new Galway sourced car in their garage in for repairs.

You've had a couple of Focus's - have you ever experienced this?
 
No didn't experience any problems. I hope it's a simple fix for you.
 
more than likely your abs pump is gone faulty due to water ingress,seems to be a problem on the new focus tdci as well as power steering pump failure as the modules for them are mounted behind the front bumper and arent insulated very well.as for your tdci been down on power check to seen if there is oil leaking from your top intercooler hose on the passenger side its a black 3inch wide steel pipe goin to the turbo ,they are breaking at the weld causing lack of boost and dont put on the engine magement light,
 
Thanks - guess what though!!! On the way home last night the engine management light came on!!!!! It's gone to the garage this morning so hopefully we'll get it sorteed!
 
Just had the garage on - a problem with a sensor which they say came from me driving like a lunatic - not impressed with their analogy! I don't drive the car that hard!
 
Tell them to F off on notions about your driving.

As long as they change it for nout under waranty.
 
The thing is they sayt there is nothing to change. They have "reset" the system - that's all they can do!!

The problem has returned AGAIN. So contacted the garage and they are now ordering parts as they THINK that the baring and sensors now need to be changed!

Spoke to a few people at the garage and they are all having the same problem! Think I'll be on to Ford about it! The car is only feckin' 2.5 months old!
 
And now they've told me (voicemail) to switch off the ABS and brake as normal. Ahh - is this possible????
 
I don't think i'd settle for that. ABS is a safety feature is it not??? Keep on there heels.

Bearings were a weakness on the Mk1 focus as the car got older. And if your bearing broke it could damage the ABS sensors. Usually you can hear a noise from the wheel that the bearing goes on. (see www.honestjohn.co.uk for more detail). If this is the issue it should be a simple fix.

That said there is no way there should be such problems with a 10week old car. I suggest that you keep records of all dealings with the garage. Such documentation will come in useful if this proves a persistent issue.
 
Sound advice. Tell the garage you are not happy with the car and ask what remedial action they are proposing to take. Threaten to contact Ford themselves and/or a solicitor. Check out your rights under the sale of goods act.

Telling you to turn off the abs is ridiculous.

Be polite, but firm.
