Aberdeen recommendations ?

I will be heading to Aberdeen for a few days with mini-zag (age 6) towards the end of August.

Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels or things to do there ? I will be checking out tripadvisor for hotel reviews, but I was wondering if anyone had any personal recommendations.

I will be flying Ryanair out of necessity. From the airport website it seems that the bus service to the airport is reasonable and there is also a train service to nearby. Does anyone have good or bad things to say about either of these services, or how long it takes to get to the airport ?

Just back after spending one week in Aberdeen.
Great city with some good shops. Currency
exchange rate makes it expensive but u can get
some nice restaurants if u shop around. I was
attending a graduation so I had accommodation.
I have a B & B contact if u fail to get a Hotel to
your satisfaction. Bus from Airport every 10 mins. Taxi will cost u 14.00 sterling. Have a good time.
