Hi I am thinking of a week in northern I reland in august, where is a good place to base ourselves. What are the places not to be missed. A friend tells me Fermanagh is lovely, I would like to be near a lake and a place that is good for walking. If anyone has nice locations that they have been I would love to hear them. thanks again

coleen, this is a great spot and there are lots of B&B's/Guesthouses in the area too if this is a bit pricey? also, you might like to visit Co Cavan too, there are some fantastic restaurants in Belturbet & Ballyconnell and certainly no shortage of lakes !

North Antrim and Derry (& Donegal) are lovely at this time of the year (when it is not raining). Unspoilt coastline, some great spots like the Giants Causeaway, Carrick Rede Rope Bridge and Portstewart Strand. And the people up there are so friendly.

We did a week in Portrush which I think is the Blackpool of the north !
Fantastic for the kids but would recommend staying in nearby Portstewart or a bit further over the coast in Ballycastle.
The north coast is absolutely beautiful and lots to see and do.
