A senior RTÉ correspondent is departing for the private sector.

Willo was only around €150k compared to Georgie Lee on €182k.

Will Goodbody is in his late 40s now, a holder of a first in ESS from TCD (for those interested in quals) and an old hand at business reporting in print and TV. People of his vintage not only have to get their worth from employers - they also have to look to their pension future.

I wonder if this mean further cuts to RTÉ staff and/or their bloated salaries ?

Can we expect an exodus of six-figure salary people from in the coming year ?

Georgie Lee to Communications Bureau of Irish Fairy Door Company ?

Miriam as marketing director (lingerie products) of Dunne's Stores ?

Joe D as Creative Director for Irish Distillers ?

Brendan O'Connor as General Factotum-in-Chief to Paddy Power ?

Mary Wilson to HNI Customer Relations at Arnott's ?

Darragh Moloney as PRO to Bórd na gCon ?

Though lucrative and generously expense-accounted, these positions will nonetheless bore many ex-RTÉ staff enjoying - though hitherto never acknowledging - the daily politicking and in-fighting of the national broadcaster. Some may even talk of making a comeback. Until Old Mother Reality taps them firmly on the shoulder with the sobering words: "You can't afford to."
