A question regarding Affordable housing scheme

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone can answer my question and explain to me if the applicants for affordable housing scheme can choose between Part V of affordable housing and council built houses? or the decision is taken by the council?

For the council built houses the income limit of 40k applies, but eligibility for the part v scheme is based on having to pay more than 35% of your net income on a mortgage if you were to buy a house at market value, so a lot of people on more than 40k would be eligible for part v houses. If you earn under 40k i'd imagine you could choose either type of house provided you can afford the repayments
