A couple took out a mortgage, they broke up

I am asking this question for a friend of mine, in short a couple took out a mortgage in the boom, she put down the deposit and has made all the mortgage repayments to date now her ex has left the scene as far as she knows that he has left the country the problem is he is named on the mortgage is there away of getting it signed into her name without him being there, her fear is he will reappear and expect half

Any thoughts

It is time for her to employ a good solicitor to represent her only. Whatever it costs, it's cheap to distance herself from this plonker she got involved with.

The issue is not so much getting his name off the mortgage, but rather getting his name off the title deeds.

That's very true after all the deeds is the important part as she's happy living there
