hi all,
i have a 99 mondeo with the built in stereo and i was wondering has anyone had any success with changing their stereo. i was in halfords today and saw some tasty dvd sat nav cd player combos but wasnt sure if i could change the stereo in the mondeo.

cheers

Its simple.
All you need is a facia & wiring connector(iso - ford)

you can buy the facia from any ford dealer a lot cheaper tha Halfrauds:D

does the existing stereo come out and its replaced with the new fascia and connections ie is it flush with the rest of the console/dash. sorry im a total novice with this kind of thing. cheers for the links btw

the whole stereo unit comes out. you will need a set of 'keys' to remove it. they're about six inches long and u shaped. if you look at the stereo you'll see a little slot near each of the four corners. the keys are pushed into the slots and tilted either inwards or outwards (can't remember which!)
i'm sure somewhere like halfords would sell these keys.they're really just pieces of shaped wire.

if i remember correctly the stereo in the mk2 (mk1 facelift) mondeo is DIN 1.5.

i think that halfords offer a fitting service also.
