It is interesting seeing as figures were forecast well below this. Even my old man paid up just before xmas. The prospect of revenue trawling his affairs was enough to get him to pay.
 
I agree. I think anybody who knows (through reading, news etc.) that virtually every other country in Europe already pays for the pleasure of owning a home, having running water in the home, universal medical care etc. realises that one must pay a tax for this. However, I don't think that every other country in Europe has appalling local services provided by Local Government (?), non-existent customer service in the Health service area, which are supposedly funded by these taxes.
So, when are we going to see the disappearance of huge levels of administration in these services, which grew enormously during the Celtic Tiger (Woof Woof Bertie!) years? I don't think any of the current Government setup has the liathroidi to tackle this problem which is both costly and causes huge delays in delivering public services! We're still so out of kilter on public sector pay and packages with the rest of the world.
