A mate has a 02 with 225,000 miles 530d Msport
he reckons it is clean as whistle tight as a drum.

Full service. apparently very full.
If the horrible jobs have been done
turbo
injectors
swirl flaps
and everything else checks out
Can these cars go on much more
or is 1/4 a million miles just about worn out.

Dreaming maybe but, the car nut in me is always lurking on both shoulders.

If the money's right and you don't intend keeping up the galactic mileage trend you could be on a winner.

Thats what I wanted to hear Caff.

Going to have a good look over it tomorrow, and have a good route through all the service history to see what has been done.

My mileage will be very low; I drive a work van so this is purely for minimal domestic use.

Mate reckons about 3,000.
If it's as good as he reckons then should be ok.

€3k is too much. My buddy bought an 02 one last month with 88k miles for €2,250 and I reckon he gave too much for it! You want it for under €2k as per @jhegarty with that mileage. Just be mindful of the €1293 tax if your not going to use it much, its alot to pay to sit in the drive!

That's a serious bargain. Make sure he does your car shopping for you.
Not the cleanest car but drove fantastically. Guy would have taken less so I guess I'm basing the price for this one on the increased risk, gearbox especially.
Plenty of more bargins out there at the moment though...

Where are you people finding these cheap low milers???

I can't see them anywhere.

Maybe the likes of gumtree or adverts.ie rather than the regular car sites?

Some pretty cheap stuff in there alright.

Someone gave him €3750 before I got a chance to look at the car.

It always amazes mw the price people will pay for old BMW's.

Anyway this will save me the hassle of about a half dozen preventative maintenance jobs and big road tax bill.

Still on the look out for an interesting bargain mind.

Yeah look most days out of curiousity and because the laptop is generally to hand.

Most people seem to be still very unrealistic about the prices.

Barring the scams of course.
