5 yr fixed rate, am I entitled to a copy of agreement?

Hi there,

We are locked into a 4.99% fixed rate which ends Nov 2011. It has been difficult especially since I am out of work though am doing a course just now.

The thing is I honestly do not recall actually signing a form requesting this and neither does my wife, now when I rang the mortgage provider they told me that there is no way I would be on this rate unless I signed a form to instruct them.

I can obviously see where they are coming from on that score and I guess we must have signed it. However I feel we have a right to a copy of the said agreement,but the mortgage company seem to think I do not! When I asked for a copy they simply said there was no need for them to provide it.

I would like a copy,do I have this right?

Yes under the Data Protection Act, you have a right to a copy of all information kept about you.

Write to the bank requesting this information quoting the Act or else ring them back and demand it, once you quote the Act they should send it out to you.
