Filling out grant paperwork for elderly relatives and there was questions about mortgage and claims on the house. They said they were mortgage free but there was 1 old judgement on the house but didn't have details.
Pulled up the folio for the property and discovered lots of burdens listed. 2 are of special interest because they are 40-45 years old and refer to interest.
"Charge for the principal sums stamped to cover £27,200 specified in Instrument No. [Snip] repayable with interest.
IRISH PERMANENT BUILDING SOCIETY is owner of this charge"
^ this appears to be the original mortgage
"Charge for present and future advances stamped to cover £18,000 repayable with interest.
THE GOVERNOR AND COMPANY OF THE BANK OF IRELAND is owner of this charge."
^ this appears to be a loan with the house as security
It seems strange what these are both still listed on the folio? Wouldn't that suggest that these haven't been fully resolved??
