3 month wait for Life Assurance

Hi,

I am in the process of taking out a self build mortgage. I have everything in place apart from my life assurance which I have been waiting for 3 months on. Neither my wife or I have any health issues but had to fill out some questionnaires regarding previous minor ailments. I have been told that they life assurance company that they are waiting on a decision from the under writer.

We have completed the first stage of our build and our builder now needs payment but to draw down we need the life assurance.

Has anyone any advice on what I should do? Should I be approaching other life assurance companies or are they also going to take 3 months plus?

If I pay the builder myself, will the bank make the first payment out to me so that I can put it back into my account?

If the questionnaires have been returned then there should be an immediate decision.
If the insurer is not happy with the questionnaires then they would have written to your GP for a report. Do you know if this happened?

The bank will not make a payment out to you personally.
