3 day wk / or fas course SW entitlements

hiya all...

Need some advice for someone...

Shes got herself a fas course & is on illness benefit which means she be paid 430 a week to do this.

Shes now been offered a 3 day a week job which will pay 300 a week. Could anyone tell me what her SW entitlements would be. Shes a single parent with a mortgage. would she be allowed to claim for the other 2 days and would she be entitled to FIS?

What would more financially better for her?

If she has an underlying entitlement, she can claim JB for the days she's unemployed. The amount she gets will depend on if she claims dependents on he claim. FIS is also dependant on total income, including JB if any. Why is she not on One-Parent family payment? I would imagine, irrespective of the short-term loss, taking th job would have better longer-term prospects than doing a FAS course. After the FAS course finishes (6 months?) she'll end up back where she started! KIf she takes the job, she may get JB or qualify for some OFP, maybe even FIS as well!
