3.5% commission to sell apartment abroad?

Hi,

Can't say whether it is normal or not for irish agents but if you were using a local agent where you are selling the commission could be 5% and upwards.

could be 1% or 2% either ...it pays to shop around. The difference could be many thousands of euro.

It would also depend what country the property is located in ?

A 2% is the standard fee. Could be 3%, depending on where the property is located.

bear in mind 1 or 2% of €100k is a decent amount, but 1% of €35k isn't that much if the agent has to advertise etc. it really does depend on the country you are looking to buy in - if it is a low priced mrket then the commission will prob be higher, at least 5%.

In many countries 3% would be considered the norm although it seems high to me personally. Bear in mind that the selling agent could be charging the same to the buyer hence a 6% overall charge!! Scandalous but there you go.....
