Laya 2A, 13 & 16 yr old and 20 yr old student: Laya Health Smart best option on renewal?

No, Health Smart increased in price on 1 August 2013, so its not the best value at the moment.
OPTION 1;
The following alternative suggestions with Laya, includes similar hospital cover + full outpatient cover for the whole family at a better price.
Prices in brackets include a 3% charge if you pay by instalments.
Adult Option;
Connectcare Plan; adult price; 990(1017)pa; - public, private(50 excess) +hi-tech cover and good outpatient cover (50% refund).
Child/Student Option;
Family Care; child/student price; 212(218) for the first 2, 179(184)for third person; full hospital cover, good outpatient cover(50% refund).

2 adults x 1017 = 2034; Connectcare Plan;
2 kids x 218 = 436; Family Care plan;

VHI have a half price children offer at the moment, 131 per child, on Parents and Kids Excess plan, which includes good hospital cover
and very limited outpatient cover.
This low price does NOT apply to students.
However, to reduce costs further you could split cover between 2 providers as follows;
VHI; 1 adult + 2 children; One + Plan and Parents + Kids Excess Plan.
LAYA; 1 adult + 1 student; Connectcare + Family Care Plan.(details as above)
