My MacBook Pro started randomly shutting down and not powering up.

The Apple Store has said the logic board needs replacing at a cost of £469.

I asked about goodwill with the machine being less than 4 years old but was told there is none.

Has anyone managed to get a replacement under EU consumer law or managed to get a third party repair?

Apple does not have an Apple Store in Ireland but there is one in Northern Ireland. I'm not sure who you've been dealing with but I could hazard a good guess. :)

Here are your consumer rights according to Apple Ireland https://www.apple.com/ie/legal/statutory-warranty/

You may be covered. Contact them directly at the number(s) given on that page.

Yes, my experience was at the Apple Store.

They refused several times but once I quoted statutory rights under the CRA 2015 they’ve agreed to replace it without charge.

I’m intrigued by “I'm not sure who you've been dealing with but I could hazard a good guess”?
