2002 Camry vs 1999 Lexus

Hello all,

I need a new car and want something reliable with a little bit of luxury for EUR5000.

The 2 leading candidates are:

1999 Lexus GS300 81000 miles, 3 owners, dealer wants EUR5100.

2002 Toyota Camry 76000 miles 1 owner, dealer wants EUR5700

My head tells me that the camry is likely to give me less problems and will also have lower tax and petrol costs.

Im tempted by the Lexus though. Nice car and should prove reliable.

Advice would be very much appreciated.

I would go for the Camry because it's 3 years younger and would have lower associated costs. However with a 2.4l engine it will be very heavy on petrol. BTW there is a 2002 Camry on for €4250 if that's any use to you.
