Morning all.

I have an opportunity to buy an old Audi, yes 13 years old. A4 1.8 petrol.

I know the owner extremely well (he's my boss) he bought it new in London, barely drove it over there, moved over to Dublin 2012 and only since has it been given a decent run.
Only 64k miles on the clock.
Full service history.
Timing belt changed last year.
Break pads renewed last year.
Car will be newly NCT'd and any issues dealt with and taxed for 3 months.
Full leather spec etc.

I know it will be heavy on juice but that's ok for the mileage I do.

Looking for 2.5k, probably settle for 2.2k.

Anyone say a resounding no..........?

Thanks
Kitten

You haven't mentioned body-style (avant / estate is my own favourite) or options (leather, sat-nav, music, etc.) or finish (SE, Sport, Sline, etc) or if t's a Turbo (1.8T) but I reckon 2k is enough for a private sale.

Full spec, leather, body colour bumpers, metallic, turbo petrol, 1.8, front armrest (apparently that's a feature)....saloon.

Lol thought I'd get slagged if I led with the external components as opposed to what's under the hood .....

You need the full spec to get a Revenue Open Market Selling Price (OMSP), a reasonable guide to the value of older cars. In this case Revenue agrees with my valuation. That's a record!!

Just FYI, there's a white label under the carpet in the boot that lists the VIN (chassis number), all the option codes fitted and the engine power in KWh. Another copy should be pasted inside the cover of the maintenance schedule booklet. Audi/VW/Skoda/SEAT etc all have this as do my Lamborghinis and Bentley.

Just be aware that some insurance companies won't insure older cars,so get a quote before you buy.

A car like that, where you know it has been well looked after, can be great value. I wouldn't argue over a few hundred euro. Just go for it.
