Hi folks
Just wondering could anyone out there tell me how many miles i should be getting out of a full tank (approx 55 ltrs) ,its a 2001 vw golf gti 1.8 20 v turbo . i filled it up and got 250 miles ? .i tried searching on the net ,cant find a thing .

27mpg is what you should be getting.

20mpg is what you are currently getting.

Depends on the driving. If you driving hard and/or in city driving you'll get low mpg. Put on a motorway driving at 80kphm it will be better, but most likely worse at 100kph. Your driving styles has a big impact too. If your a smooth driver or someone who's constantly on/off the brake and accelerator.

1. You filled the car (55 litres).
2. Reset trip meter (got 250 miles out of the tank).
3. Divide number of miles by number of litres.... and multiply answer by 4.54 (European standard number of litres per gallon).
4. Answer = 20mpg.

pump up the tyres and clear out the boot and go easy on the go pedal.
