2 units & Finance Ireland

I was turned down for a mortgage, via a broker, because I have 2 separate units in my house. The unit isn't a separate apartment but it is it's own living space with kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, it isn't being rented out to tenants, it's for family. There was no issue with income, affordability, spending, LTV or anything afaik. They said it was the 2 units and it wasn't possible to get around it in any way.

Is this standard across all banks?

My only other option for what I want is Finance Ireland, who underwrites their mortgages? Like with Haven it's AIB, so is this similar? I can't find an answer online. Just wondering if I'm likely to run into the same problem with them before going through another ordeal applying for a mortgage.

Any advice much appreciated.
