1998 Toyota Corolla timing belt?

I am curious to know if there is a timing belt on these models or is it timing chains? I own a 02 corolla and it is a timing chain rather than a belt. I have the opportunity to buy one with 54000 miles so I would need to get it done soon if needed.

Also is there any website which you can check the background of UK reg cars. I tried one but you need a postcode to get the info.

All corollas from this year(1998) have belts m8,

1.3(petrol)
1.6(petrol)
2.0D

What is an m8 belt? I have just bought a 1998 Corolla 1.3 L petrol and want to be 100 % sure that it has the new type chain belt. ??

It defo has a belt, Part number was T13568-19025 as far as I can remember.

m8 = Mate, as in cheers mate.
