18v dc power adaptor

I have recently bought a speaker station for an iPod in the US. When I plugged it in back home, the adaptor blew. I have been trying to get an adaptor here but to no avail. What I am looking for is a universal power adaptor for 18v dc.
I have tried Peats, Dixons, Argos, 3G stores etc but for some reason an 18v dc adaptor seems to be a rarity ( most adaptors seem to only go up to 12v)

The funny thing is that you can buy the same speakers here in Ireland, but apparently not a suitable adaptor (separatly)...

Has anybody encountered the same problem? does anybody know where I could get this type of adaptor in Ireland?
 
Must be a rare beast, all right - I don't see any on eBay that go over 12V. Maybe Apple (Irl.) can help out?
