12k in Halifax - need to move it but to where?

I've looked at the best buys but still feel a bit confused. I want to transfer the 12k to another account, to which I can add more money over time if possible.

Just to get my money out of Halifax, I'm going to transfer it to my AIB current account temporarily until I open up a new account.

How secure is PTSB and is their online access fairly reliable?

Yes, I could also do with a regular savings account. Have a rabo account but found their interest rate just kept dropping and dropping until it was useless.

The Nationwide UK (Ireland) account that you mention below - would that be online access only? How safe/secure is it?
