11 year old credit card loan

I had a credit card about 11 years ago. I lost my job mortgage went interest only etc..was paying it every month but wasnt touching principle just interst AIb credit cards said nothing they could do to help.
Anyway eventually couldn't continue to pay it. Last payment about 9 years ago catd was cancelled about 11 years ago by me.
Today I received a letter from Cabot Financial looking for €1,600 or threatening legal action.
As it was so many years ago I hadnt even thought about it. I dont have €1600 to give them. Whats the story with them does anyone know

It's really important that you ignore this. The statute of limitations is 6 years. If you acknowledge this in writing, or send Cabot money, it could have the effect of resetting the clock. Cabot's threat of legal action is empty because so much time has passed.
