Just considering applying for one as I need to buy a property soon but don't have a deposit saved.

I was reading that they are only available to certain professions. Is this the case and what are the pitfalls of a 100% Mortgage ?

Which banks are prepared to offer them ?

what do you do ? , its only available to a very small number of jobs

I work in sales at Apple Computers. I don't think I'd qualify but is it strictly enforced ?

you won't...... its very strick as I understand it...

As I understand it the professions covered are Doctors, Dentists, Lawyers, Pharmacists, Opticians, Physiotherapists, Vets, Accountants.

I got a 100% mortgage and don't fall under any of those professions. I work for a highly regarded (at least by the bank!) management consultancy firm and my girlfriend works in a good position (but not doctor) in the health service. We got the 100% mortgage from BoI and they indicated that it was the fact I worked for that company they were prepared to give us that finance.

I was always amused at the inclusion of lawyers in the list - solicitors yeah but barristers no !

The term "lawyer" covers both solicitors and barristers. Ulster Bank and First Active are the only lenders officially offering 100% but BoI and AIB will both consider them on a case by case basis but only (as above) if you have either connections via your employers or family.
