Hi all. I'm fixing with tsb and was leaning towards 5.75% for 5 years. Is 7 or 10 years too long a fix?? Rate would be 6.1%.. On 4.65 variable at the moment

It depends on your circumstances, impossible to answer your question without knowing more.

If you want the certainty of fixed repayments for the next 10 years and are aware that there may be a penalty to change any of the terms of a fixed rate mortgage then I personally don't see 10 years as too long.

You can get 4.5% for 5 year fixed elsewhere is your mortgage is less than 80% of the current value of your home.

Not possible to switch lender at this stage. But i am thinking maybe be possible to switch 5 years down when circumstances have changed.
