01 Golf Mk4 - looking for glass for headlight

01 Golf with cracked glass on the headlight (drivers side).

Light still works ok, but fear that it will fail NCT at end of the month for the cracked glass.

Can I get a replacement glass or do I have to replace the full headlight?
 
would be cheaper and easier to replace the entire unit. Check out micksgarage.ie and you can have the light delivered next day.

To take glass off existing light unit, it involves putting the light into the oven to soften the sealant.... Its not a job for a novice.

I checked out his prices, and they are too high. I have already gotten quotes from UK based dealers and on eBay for the full headlight and they are much lower.

I thought that just replacing the glass was a fairly easy option. Ah well.
Would it fail NCT for the cracked glass?
 
yes, as over time water and dirt could get into the headlamp unit
 
You can only replace the headlight. what about a breakers yard.

I found these guys good to deal with and much cheaper than the dealer or parts suppliers I had talked to elsewhere.

Bought an Airflow Mass Meter from them for a Golf MkIV about 4 years ago. Price was 1/3 of the best other quote.
