Just make sure you drink plenty of coffee; I used to have one of them and it's so boring to drive that you might fall asleep at the wheel :D ;)

If you want a big saloon then I'd recommend a second hand 5-series BMW or a new Ford Mondeo. The Passat is a very good car but the reviews generally put the Mondeo ahead of it.

I couldn't agree more with purple the mondeo is a fantastic car seems well built. though water can get into the boot of the saloon version when opening the boot. The hatch version is more practical. I doubt it will hold it’s value as good as the passat they never do! But you won’t pay as much and can afford to add extras. But avoid ford automatics like the plague. Unless its the new DSG style “powershift” which isn’t available in the mondeo yet or Ireland for that matter. Look at the seat and skoda’s models also they use the same engines and gearbox as Audies! Buy a diesel you will need it to haul around the huge mondeo or you WILL regret not doing so,and will be easier to sell on. Check out www.whatcar.co.uk and autoexpress.co.uk. That way you can get a better idea whats out there! But do you really want a new car? You can get great bargains 2nd hand, and don’t believe that a car will die once it hits 100k miles on a diesel especially that’s rubbish. A full complete service is essential and ring the garages to confirm the history!

i used to drive a mondeo saloon, the golfclubs were left in the boot permanently, still had loadsa room for the shopping etc,it had a tardis like capacity.
