Corolla diesel

No it's ok. The car itself is a bit plain and it is uninspiring to drive, but it's pretty light on fuel and reliable.

I have a company auris van 1.4 d4d, only for i'm not paying for it and the fuel I have to trash it to get a satisfing drive, don't get me wrong it's ok for a lad that potters around but if you don't like being stuck behind lorries and rent a cars it's not for you. It's slow to get going in first gear, my trip computer tells me i'm getting 51 mpg which is very good (860 km for €56) I had the older shape corrolla van in 2.0 d4d with the same 90 bhp and i loved it... Maybe go for it in 2 litre guise, with 125 bhp and 6 gears, i'm sure the new co2 emmisions is good....

125 bhp out of a 2.0 seems a bit weak.

Seems like toyota should pull the finger out.

Bmw have a 204 bhp 2.0 diesel in the 123d

Yeah that Beemer engine is very good, have had a couple of 320d's 150 bhp good power and easy on the pocket as well as timing chain!

Thanks for replies, I want a bit of style and power ,so I 'll forget the Corolla .

Could I suggest that you wait for the Audi R8 V12 diesel that should be available next year

Would love the car but I'm worried about the carbon emissions ,so I will also take this off my list
Maybe you could recommend a car where you can buy style and power for around €26,000 ?.

Why not take a look at www.drivemagazine.ie ?

They only cover new cars, and have test driven everything for sale here in Ireland.

You might want to have a look at a new Mazda 6 if style and power PLUS reliability is what you are after.

€26, is a tight budget for a brand new diesel (I assume), would agree with the Mazda 6 the old shape in metallic blue is a good looking car, if you can stretch at all to the 08 model ... that's very stylish, saw one this evening in Limerick dark navy with big wheels, very classy.

How much power do you want?

I used to have a 1.6 Focus and found it swifter out of the traps and more cushioned road-wise than my present 1.4 Focus. Looks like the new Focus 1.6 diesel eco model might suit ,assuming the money to change is not too much
