thinking of buying US Police car to promote business

looking at the following cop car on carsireland

and just wondered does anyone know if I could be pulled over by the gaurds for driving it on the roads here
 
Well they will do you for having the blue flasher on top anyway...

I would also wounder about its nct status....
 
I think its a great car - had a spin in one earlier this year in the states :)
Real eye catcher all right but you may want to check with the prev owner/Guards about the legality of the lights.

It has a LOT of power and heavy on juice but..

If it suited my business I'd but it in a second :)
 
I agree about the great car - the stock road version in the US had either a 4.5 or 4.8 litre engine (can't remember which) with rear wheel drive and four speed auto box - what a car! Power everywhere but handled like a blancmange around corners or in the wet or snow! Great fun

Even then, unless the NYPD car is adapted to include a logo or something (which wouldn't make it an NYPD car anymore :) ), its hard to see its promotional worth.

They are used for debs/grads nights like stretch hummers etc. have seen some already used for that. Goes down well with the kids.
 
Have driven one of these. It is like driving around in your sitting room. Big comfortable seats....but unfortunately it handles like a sitting room also!!!!!

There are EU rules that have to be complied with re importing cars (stuff like the color of the indicators etc.) but I am not sure what they are and doubt too many Gardai would know either. I do not think you could be accused of impersonating a Garda car though.
 
If you are planning on driving a "One Time" around to promote business why not take the more popular route instead?

Rent a copy of the Blues Brothers on DVD and check out the cop car in that.

It's bound to attract more attention.

You could even play Blues music from the roof speaker and dress up like Jake or Elwood.

Now that would be funny.
