Nissan primera 04 cig lighter replacement???

Can anyone advise me how to replace the cig lighter in my 04 nissan primera? links to websites with diagrams would be of great help or a simple explanation thats if it is simple but knowing nissan it probably is not!!! Thanks..
 
easy thing would be go to a breakers yard and get one,, if your lucky u might see the second hand one removed,, good insight into whats invloved to remove it ,, and see what gets broken easily, some of these might be half dismantled anyhow,, help to see what holds it in
 
Thanks clonboy but i have already purchased a new universal one and my local breakers no longer leave you inside the gates for health and safety reasons....Pat
 
Are you sure the whole cigarette lighter unit needs to be replaced? Check the fuse if you've plugged something else besides the lighter element itsef and it does not work. That may fix it.

If you've only checked the lighter element, it may be that you just need to replace the lighter element, which you can get (a generic one) at any car parts place.

I learned this lesson paying a mechanic about a 100 euro to fix this (not on a Nissan). There was nothing to fix except get a cheap replacement lighter element!

Ya i've tried it with my sat nav and it doesn't work either, iI did look at the fuse box and checked some of them as the drawing on the cover is quite hard to understand. thanks for you're help sunshine....Pat..
