Hi,

What would be the easiest way to make a lump sum investment into the S&P 500 from Ireland.

Also, is there a way to invest a small monthly amount in the S&P for a long period of time (say x amount a month for 18 years).

Thanks

make more sense to just buy a few times per year due to fees

you would need to open an account with a brokerage firm , id avoid the big two in ireland as their fees are extortionate

you wont be able to buy the american ETF,s which track the S+P , you can buy the european listed ones , this involves having to sell after eight years and pay a high exit tax , no way round it unfortunately , its still better than doing nothing

Seem to be able to buy the US S&P500 ETFS on Degiro without issue.

I'm also curious, what would be the best S&P500 ETF to buy from a tax efficient / best value / most appropriate one from Ireland?

is it dollar denominated or U.S domiciled ?

that’s the one I buy, Irish based, euro hedged and accumulating which makes it’s a little easier to deal with Tax

Are you not tempting faith by just investing in the S&P500. its had an incredible run since the financial crash trouncing everything else and you were also turbo charged by the appreciating US dollar during that time. Now the US dollar is depreciating and other markets have being doing alot better since the arrival of the vaccine. Everything goes in trends and maybe this is the time when the rest of the world performs much better than the US and the US dollar continues to depreciate. If you invested in a global ETF like msci you are still getting significant US exposure anyway as the US component of the index has increased since the financial crash aswell.

difficult to see Europe outperforming the U.S anytime soon seeing as its so heavily weighted towards the likes of banks and energy companies which are zombie sectors going nowhere ?

You can buy us domiciled etfs on etoro. Not sure why everyone keeps saying you cant buy us etfs ?
