buying a camera lens from Donedeal

Hi,
forgive me if I'm in the wrong section for this post.
Here's my question;
I have spotted a lens for very cheap money on Donedeal and have been talking to the owner who seems legit and would like me to come view it before I buy it...
The problem is he lives very far away up the country and I really don't wish to travel..
Is there away I can pay for it and get him to post it to me or am I asking for trouble should he renege???
I have paypal and would that cover me???

I find alot of sellers on donedeal are on adverts.ie where users have a rating system. check there and it may help you.
 
I will do Sandals, but I took a chance on this one and trusted him... It won't break the bank either way if he lets me down.. I got him to send me a request for payment on paypal with an invoice stating type of lens... So hopefully all will be ok... He does seem very genuine though.... thanks

If you buy unseen, you are taking a risk. I bought a camera from Dublin on Adverts and got a friend who lives in Dublin to check it out for me. It was brand new so no probs. If you are talking about Donegal or Sligo, I will be happy to take a look for you, within reason! Slim

Thank you slim, thats such a kind gesture, It was in Dublin, but I've taken the chance already and purchased it.. I hope my hunch is right and it comes up trumps...
Prob wont ever do this again but just so wanted the lens... He has explained to me that the lens is faulty so I am expecting to do a repair on it but it's still worth more than he charged as scrap value...
I'll keep you posted if it arrives... Is there any real safe way of purchasing it through donedeal does anyone leaving out the fact that it may be faulty as most of the bargains i like to buy are faulty anyway...???

Ah right! No probs! When you said 'up the country' I thought you might be in Dublin yourself and the lens might be up this way. Hope it works out. Please let us know. Best of luck with it. S
 
Well slim, I have the tracking number now and it's in the post. Just got verification on it. So my hunch was right he is a good one. I'm actually in cork myself so maybe one day I can return the favour to you.

That could very well be a good idea Slim, btw received lens yesterday and started repair immediately, I now have a top quality lens working perfectly at a fraction of the price of a new one so I am very happy....
