PSO Increase

Is there a question here or are you just looking to have a rant? If the latter, Letting Off Steam would be the appropriate forum.

It amounts to about €2.83 on each bi monthly bill for everyone. (About €17 a year).

Its the percentage that is important.......in a time of low inflation and no cost of living increases

Wait until they start charging us the cost of Garda overtime for keeping Ming Flanagan's mates off the bogs!
Should I be surprised that semi-state/semi-monopolistic companies get to pass on green charges directly to their customers but businesses that operate in the real world have to suck it up while offering year on year price reductions?

I don't approve of the PSO levy on customers' bills. The utility companies involved should pay staff from the profits from the sale of energy to customers. I don't understand the need for this levy. Separately Bord Gais has applied for a 7% price increase for gas from October....

Note that the PSO is nothing to do with staff pay.

The Public Service Organisation (PSO) levy is a government charge which was re-introduced in 2010 to cover the higher costs of peat and renewable energy.

It’s set by the Commission for Energy Regulation (CER) and is currently €2.73 per month for all domestic customers.

Ah yes the subsidy that encourages both renewable energy and a fossil fuel at the same time, do they not see the policy conflict there?
