On the off chance someone here knows...For someone that connects to internet via a dongle via USB..
I understand there is no USB port on an iPad 2(could be wrong).
If iPad 2 only has wifi and not 3G how do you connect to the internet?

Your right, ipads dont have usb ports.

If its a wifi only model, you can only access the net in a wifi area.

If you use the USB mobile broadband for your PC or Laptop and dont have wifi at home, Id advise upgrading to O2's E355 mobile broadband/WIFI USB stick.

This can fuel up to 5 wifi anabled devices.

If you have a recent smartphone, you could use it to create a wireless hotspot and use that to access the internet.

The one thing about this, while an option, the data downloaded would go through your phone bill. So for example, if the user was on youtube, you could cut through a huge % of your allowed data usage or even go over which would add to the bill.

There are aftermarket USB ports that can be connected to an Ipad through the charging port. A search on Amazon will give you a list of those available.

3g wireless router

Exactly. Also known as a MiFi device. These have cheaper data rates than using your mobile phone as a hot spot. Each mobile provider has different rates, this is the O2 one for example

I tried the one from Meteor but had terrible coverage, everywhere I went outside of Dublin. O2 seemed a lot better. In the end I just used WiFi in cafes and hotels. But you can usually cancel the contract if you have terrible coverage.
