RIP Donna Summer

She was a great singer.

I did not realise that she spent a lot of her early career in Germany.

What a powerful voice.

RIP.

RIP
but why here in 'letting off steam' ?

From the boss himself:

The Letting Off Steam forum is designed for regular contributors to Askaboutmoney to occasionally discuss non financial issues which are not of the questions and answers variety. It is not designed to be a platform for people who make little or no other contribution (e.g. who don't answer finance related queries or otherwise contribute to the more finance orientated forums) to Askaboutmoney to stir up trouble or pursue their own campaigns. These posters should find another website to pursue their objectives.

I get a bit fed-up that everybody now has to be lamented, mourned and deeply regretted.

It was much more fun back in the days when a celebrity death was greeted by deathly puns and grosser-than-you jokes.

I've a Facebook friend who posts almost daily "Sad news. <insert name of obscure jazz drummer/Eastern European poet/Asian peacenik> has left us." I mean, really - who cares most of the time?

Some friend ;)

Today he wrote: "Sad news. The renowned German baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau has died."

You should now post that this is the 910th anniversary of the death of Stephen the second, Count of Blois, who we all remember as one of the leaders of the First Crusade, killed at the Battle of Ramla at the tender age of 57. His son later went on to become king Stephen of England.
