It is shocking the level the country has come to between banks/gov etc

Where will it all end.

In regard to above article A.I.B must be able to identify staff involved.

I recently see another case where a woman wanted to extend a loan over a longer period- In loan one she gave personal guarantee in new loan agreement they tried to drag in mother for personal guarantee as well- Some people are still trusting of banks- It is so essential now to read small print and also get someone you trust to take read of aggrement as well just in case you miss something

Almost 7 years ago I was hold that AIB's own solicitors had found a large number of problems with the conveyancing performed by some of the 'high volume/low cost' solicitors, and they hoped the day would never come when they had to reprocess those houses.
Well that day has come...

The FSO cannot name financial institutions found guilty of wrongdoing and the couple feared AIB was pushing them in this direction to cover up the issue.
Financial Services Ombudsman.

I wonder if the bank can go after the solicitor's who didn't do the conveyancing properly, and if not them (many presumable are not in business) does the Law Society bear the ultimate responsibility. Watch this space.

The fraud squad should be investigating AIB over the alleged forged documents.

I find this equally as shocking. You owe banks €800m and you still get put on a panel to advise NAMA?

What's shocking about that? I actually don't mean that sarcastically. The people in NAMA are the people who led us to where we are today. Take the valuers, they are the same people that valued property at sky high value 3/4 years ago. In years to come we will discover that the property in NAMA is sold to the people in NAMA or their friends and acquaintences or back to the bankrupt developers. It's just being held in limbo by NAMA for now, to prevent the market collapsing even more. One developer who seemed willing to talk (McNamara) is gagged. Why is everything about NAMA a secret in a democracy. Why don't we know who works for it, what they did before NAMA who they are doing deals with and for how much. There are reasons why not.

Don't solicitors have to have insurance?

They have PII I think it's' called, professional indemnity insurance. As far as I remember there are limits on this and then the Law Society comes into play.

Never a truer word spoken.
We also still have the same (high level) civil servants in charge, whose job it is to guide and inform the politicians of the decisions to take. Nothing changes, at election time we will get new ‘names’ to replace the old ones. There election promises will be broken when they have to deal with the reality of the situation. There will be more jobs for a different set of the boys, but at the end of the day they will all enjoy their pensions.

Well things can change. If people vote differently. And I don't mean voting for FG or Labour. That will change nothing. I saw Shane Ross being interviewed the other day, a person I consider who has done the people of this state some service. He is now going for the Dail, we need people like that. One time I thought the PD's might change things but how they failed and same with the Greens. We need a complete change of the system because what we have is pointless. Only by people voting out the current crowd and most of the opposition will we have change. So the electorate can effect change by voting differently each and every time until they get the message and change the system.

But appart from Shane Ross, who is good at causing trouble, is there?
I voted for George Lee and that was a waste of a trip to the polling station.
Voting for SF could lead to the likes of the Third Reich rising to power.

I think social partnership took most of those guys out of the loop which was a big part of the problem.

I was thinking about this, you voting for George Lee was not a waste of time, voting is never a waste of time. Lee made a mistake, he's human that's all. At least he had the gumption to go for election, what he found when he was elected didn't suit him, I'm not surprised with the mess of a political system we have. In addition the way you voted makes political parties sit up and take notice (somewhat :() and may help to bring about change even in small ways. Not sure about the Third Reich, but speaking to die hard FF's my conclusion is that they will not vote for FG and they don't want to vote SF but will they not vote, vote for FF or vote for SF, that is what SF is counting on, being seen by FF voters as 'the nationalist' party. Vote for change I think is the only option in the next election for everybody if they want change. It is quite clear that voting for FF, FG or Labour means that one doesn't really want change. So vote for changes sake, to shake up the system, to show 'can do' Irish people that Irish people are willing to dump what has been so that we may find good, honest capable, people who will come us not with empty promises but like Churchill honesty, in that there are hard times ahead and that they will promise nothing but hard work and sweat and tears so that we and our children may have a future other than the boat.

NAMA has created an environment that's rife for all kinds of corruption. I really hope that they have a seriously motivated internal audit function.

And you'd rely on an audit?
