Hi there,
A group of four of us are heading down to Lisdoonvarna for the festival. We are going down to stay for the 17th, 18th and 19th of sept.
I have been tasked with sorting out the accommodation. I know I have left it late and it will probably be very hard to get anywhere.
We have never been there before during the festival so dont know what to expect but I have heard its great craic.
Back to the task in hand..
Can anyone give me advice on somewhere to stay, we dont mind staying a little bit outside town. we would prefer to have a place that we can retreat back to once out of the madness. Would ideally like a cottage type set up opposed to B&B.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

I can't help with someone to stay except to say that there are plenty of "bargains" on [broken link removed]
You'll find plenty of guest houses around the town that will have vacancies.

Oh, and as for going to the festival itself - GOD HELP YOU!!! Nothing, and I mean nothing you have ever seen can prepare you for what goes on there.
It is pure depraved lunacy. Of course, there is the side of it with little old dears dancing the walls of Limerick but that is only half the story.

So enjoy it as anything goes. If you want it you will find it in Lisdoon.

To get away from the packed (and expensive) bars for a while it is worth going down to Doolin and enjoying a nice meal and a few creamy pints in McDermotts, McGanns or O'Connors. Don't bother with the hotel as that is not authentic.

And don't leave that part of Ireland without driving out passed Ballinalacken castle and enjoying one of the best views in this country.

Great advice there thank you very much! Well we are open to anything new and exciting..I guess it will be an experience!
Was at Electric Picnic last weekend so it will be interesting to see a different genre of festival goers!
