Having witnessed a 'smash and grab' robbery on a car waiting in front of me at traffic lights in Blanchardstown recently in broad daylight - I don't leave anything on view at any time and always have my doors locked.
Four youths passed the line of cars waiting at the lights and were looking into the cars as they passed - I could see them in my wing mirror. I have tinted windows in the back so they couldn't see in and luckily had my handbag under the passenger seat.
The Volvo saloon in front of me had something on the rear window shelf - not sure if it was an iPad - but in seconds they had smashed the rear window, taken the item and ran off.
So it's not just risky to leave anything when your car is parked!
