Hi All,

what is the story with taxation if you work in NI and live in RoI ?

Someone told me that you get a medical card down here as you pay Nat Ins in NI but receive no beefits for it so this is the deal.

Also, what is the UK tax rates/allowances etc. if you earn £30k ?

Any info is appreciated.

Re medical card - Under EU regulations, persons who live in ROI, who pay into another EU State's Social Security system and who are not subject to Irish Social Security Legislation (i.e. not paying PRSI or in receipt of an Irish contributory pension) are entitled to a medical card for themselves and dependants.
For UK/NI workers living in the ROI, evidence of employment is sufficient when applying for the medical card. For persons living here and working in other EU states , form E106 is completed in the other EU state and is presented to the HSE with the medical card application.

There are other categories of persons who qualify for medical cards under EU legislation - information contained in this [broken link removed]
