Hi, I don't have a clue when it comes to working out tax etc. Currently working full time - gross monthly pay 2200. Net pay approx 1940. If I go on a four day week and consequently decrease my gross income by 20%, what could I expect my net income to become?

According to [broken link removed] €2,200 p.m. = €26,400 p.a. gives:
Monthly take home pay. (Single)
Selected Tax year is 2007
Gross Take Home Pay = € 2200.0
Tax = € 146.66667
Take Home Pay after Tax = € 2053.3333
Less PRSI = € 109.98667
Net take home pay = € 1943.3466
while 20% less or €1,760 p.m. = €21,120 p.a. gives:
Monthly take home pay. (Single)
Selected Tax year is 2007
Gross Take Home Pay = € 1760.0
Tax = € 58.666668
Take Home Pay after Tax = € 1701.3334
Less PRSI = € 48.38667
Net take home pay = € 1652.9467
Note that the calculator makes some assumptions about tax credits etc. so your specific situation may be different.

Could you reduce you week to working 4 days a week but extend your hours?

I know people who work 10 hours 3 days a week and 9 hours on the fourth day. Depends on the job.

Thanks for that Clubman.
No unfortunately I'm very tied with my babysitter and don't want to change her as otherwise she is excellent. Trying to work out if it would make more sense to reduce to 4 day week taking into a/c fuel costs, babysitter costs etc. Thanks
